Jackdaw With Crowbar - " Ships Not Yachts " (Big Turkey 4 Cassette) 1991

In 1991 every good group had either broken up or transformed itself into a maraca and tambourine shaking bunch of prats, doing why-te boy dancing to a clumsy "Funky Drummer" beat, dressed in flares and stripy tops;....not Jackdaw With Crowbar. Wading against the tide of indifference posed by "E" culture, they resisted the dance revolution, and were ignored. But,now we have forgotten tits like 'the Beloved' and their hideous ilk, one can rediscover Jackdaw's dark days via this early nineties casstte release. Don't ask me any information on the contents of this crom-dioxid wonder, but it does contain a shiney rainbow of cuts spanning their career up to this point. Of course including not only the obligatory reworking of "Iceberg", but other delights like "Banjo Thatch" and an undisco version of Cash's "Ring Of Fire". We await their new ep...out soon apparently.

Hello - track 11 is actually called 'Banjo Thatch'

by the way - if you want to supply a postal address I can send you 'General Theory of Dub' - a cassette collection from between 1982 and 1992 of analogue dubs by Tim Ellis including a variation on the rhythm section of 'Banjoid Festi' called 'Splish Splash Turkish Bath'

All the best - Tim Jackdaw

Reading the comment by Tim above I would love to hear those dubs. I remember seeing JWC at Club Dog in London in the 80s and being knocked out by the very authentic dub tunes they played alongside the other terrific material. Thanks for the download.
