Sir Alick and the Phraser - " In Search Of The Perfect Baby " - ( Black Noise Records 7No5) 1980

After the entire 'It's War Boys' back catalogue,(see previous post s.v.p?), it only natural to listen to some Black Noise; the sister label to Jim Whelton's insane imprint.
Black Noise was more of a Bruno Wizard influenced label, for The Homosexuals and stuff like Sir Alick and the Phraser.
The "In Search of a Perfect Baby"single is a masterpiece of unsynchopated abstract pop; a cubist portrait of a hit.It sort of makes sense, like a jigsaw with several pieces forced into the wrong slots. It's wrongness is only rivalled in my world by Beefheart's "Frownland" from Trout Mask....high praise indeed.

I love this 7"...i bought it in 1981 without knowing it,just because i loved the cover.....and after hearing it i adored it...then followed the Amos and Sara mini LP and 2x7" and the homosexuals....great records all of them

Yes, on reflection one has to feel humbled by the undersold near-genius of the main players in the Homosexuals clique. One suspects that their true fame will come long after their death, like J.S.bach or a Van Gogh.
Oh,and i like Mutant sounds new look in the margins.Long over due and very welcome.
